ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I began this series in 2023 as a celebration of my 10th year of living in Iceland. And in this time have studied the pallets of Icelandic painters such as Jóhannes Sveinsson Kjarval and Erró extensively. In these works the mystery of Icelandic folklore and the countries stark nature creates a magic known only to iceland. In the painting "Girl, The Horse and The Highlands," I embrace the quintessence of Iceland pastoral life. Here in this Icelandic landscape, a magnificent horse is just about to stand up from a long relaxing nap next to a serene river, where a young girl bathes in the cascading waters. The skies draw you into an Icelandic dream world of pink, gray and white tones blending harmoniously with the soft moss covered lava floes and rugged yet soft pastures.

I paint fervently for long intervals, as if I were walking blindfolded through nature, feeling the color with my skin. I create from my art studio which is located on a farm in the South of Iceland. My artwork is represented in private and corporate collections in the United States, Switzerland, France and The Netherlands. Notable Exhibitions: Art Center Baer, Litla Gallery, Galerie Cècile Charron in Paris, Galleria del Arte Ill Milennio in Venice, Gallery Knoerle Baetig Fine Art, Galerie Mainau, Zurcher Kantonal Bank and AXA Winterthur in Switzerland. Internships In the Netherlands I apprenticed with the painter poet Anton Martineu, attended the Rietveld academy, and in India at the Honey Arts Modelling center I apprenticed in the "lost wax method" bronze casting technique. In Iceland I established the platform Fluxus Design Tribe and produced the film Pourqois Pas Borgarnes. Maine's Cafe Review selected the Mermaid for their cover of the Icelandic Poetry Edition. I am the co-founder and producer of MAP Magazine Artist Professionals and the Open Doors Event and Outside Inside platforms for artists working in Winterthur Switzerland. I gained Dutch and US attention with my illustrations in the book 'Closed Curtains Lives of de Wallen'. Other illustrations of mine have been published by the Dutch & Belgium publication 'Joie de Vivre'.
