Abstract expressionist. Studio in the north of the Netherlands. Work in corporate and private collections. Annemare Rijnbeek works in the tradition of abstract expressionism. Some of her examples are Cy Twombly and Antoni Tapies. Just like these painters she researches the source of scripture, as calligraphy of the subconscious. Her work brings memories of scenic nature; views of a non existent reality. The various elements are nowhere completely concrete and a lot is left to the imagination of the spectator. Rijnbeek's work can be seen as a search for the universal truth. Her abstract imagery is a personal expression, which touches on the collective subconscious. Technically she doesnt make mistakes. She is in charge of her materials, however divers, and controls her compositions almost mathematically.At the same time she creates a certain chaos that does not lead the viewer to read her work a certain way. Annemare once described her work as refined canvasses with a hidden power.The power isnt just in the perception of the first impression, but emerges while one regards the work for a longer period of time. You have to make an effort in order to have a dialogue with her work.
