ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The painting is signed On the front: artist's signature On the back: catalog number, author's signature, signature: Katarzyna Wołodkiewicz, painting title, collection title. THE WORLD MAKES SENSE The right perspective will always allow us to see the bigger picture. Things have their continuity, meaning and sense. As long as you look from where you are, in knowledge and experience, the fossilized belief structures that have accumulated in our short lives, it will always be a very limited view. Only by giving yourself space, doubting, asking questions, you can find new meanings, meaning, sometimes even truth. In this series, we see frames, only fragments, the world in the paintings has openings that suggest a different side, continuation, extension. Continuity, and at the same time a limited point of the existing reality, what is on the other side? What is the thread that connects these worlds? Is the answer true? Actually what is true? I feel that recognizing my limitations is the beginning of the road. The goal is to try to understand, because full understanding with such limited cognitive abilities seems to me not available at the moment. However, the mere awareness of this plane arouses curiosity and the willingness to look for a way to exceed these limits.

I live in Wroclaw, Poland. My main fields of interest are painting, illustration, graphics, drawing, poster, collage and artistic education. I am a graduate of the Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw (MFA in Graphics in 2002) and I also completed the Qualifying Course in the Field of Fine Art Pedagogy at the University of Arts in Poznan. My work experience includes freelancing, commissions for illustration studios, advertising agencies, publishing houses and individuals, cooperation with art galleries, running my own art studio (graphic, design, illustration, painting, creative photography), teaching arts at Fine Art High School in Wroclaw. In 2007 I started Fenomenarium - my very own Drawing, Painting, Design and Sculpture Workshops, which I'm running to this date. The passion for arts never lets me rest so I create and exhibit my works home and abroad.
