This Way Print

This portrayal of a fabulous Mid-century motel sign is now gone. It is an excellent example of a bygone era. Left to rack and ruin, it shows a quiet beauty in it's design and patina from weathering. I originally wanted to capture the signage as it was. It has become a recording of the past, a reminder of change in society, time and weathering. I always go on location to get a sense of place to capture my reference images. These are portraits of roadside America which is disappearing. This sign resided on a small highway near Fruitville, Florida. It was removed a few years ago and replaced with an modern apartment sign.
