About The Artwork

I expanded the previous Tokyo Blues work and created a series. This is the second work in the series. Japan along with Korea is probably one of the most homogeneous countries today. It's easy to feel one with the crowd, or completely alienated from it depending on your mindset. Especially in the morning rush hour - if you ever take a trip to Japan I recommend you to sit at Blue Bottle Cafe at Shinagawa Station in the morning - the view of the crowd below is unbelievable!!

Adam Norgaard (b. 1991) is an American artist working in Japan for the past 9 years. His works reflect the process of adapting to a culture different from his own. Working with oils as his main medium, he remains playful while also maintaining a finished quality. Adam attempts to bring the viewers into a foreign environment of their own by the atmosphere depicted in his paintings. In his own practice he is working at deviating from references and attempting to work completely from his imagination.
