Born in 1984 in Vladivostok and graduated in Fine Arts from Sorbonne University, Svetlana Maksimenko currently lives and works in Courbevoie. As we continue to push the boundaries of progress and technological advancement, in her series of oil paintings, the artist delves into the psychological and emotional effects of this rapid change, using artificial intelligence and psychoanalysis as a lens. Through bold brushstrokes, subdued tones and striking compositions, the images explore the tension between the traditional and the modern, the individual and the collective, and the internal and the external. The figures and landscapes depicted are at once familiar and alien, evoking a sense of both nostalgia and suspense. These paintings serve as a powerful reminder of the complexities of the human experience and the delicate balance between progress and self-reflection. They invite us to consider the impact of our actions on ourselves and on the world around us, and to embrace the transitional state we find ourselves in as a source of growth and possibility.
