After making very little art for nearly 25 years, Marquita was introduced to live competitive painting in 2016 which rekindled her passion for expressing herself visually. Since then, she has competed 15 times in four cities in two provinces. Fascinated with patterns of light and colour, her work is heavily influenced by impressionist styles and organic abstractions found in nature, including reflections in water, tree shapes, the changing sky and interesting faces. She primarily works in acrylic paint, soft pastels, mixed media, and has begun experimenting with digital media. Marquita is self-represented and takes commissions on a limited basis.
