This work speaks to the dilapidated state of mid-century neon signage has become of these pop culture icons. Many are torn down daily from city restrictions, lack of care, or abandonment. I intend to record the structures as they are in their weathered state, a slice of modern culture and design history. They are interesting forms quietly falling into disrepair. I hope viewers will see the beauty in the light, shadow, textures, and geometric forms. This work was painted in acrylic and watercolor on Indian Village Paper, one of the last full sheets I had left. It has a very rough surface, handmade with deckle edges on all side creating a very uneven and unusual shape. The original is best framed archival float matted in a shadow box type of frame.
