ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The scenary of smoke drifting out of chimneys in a small valley village warmed my heart when I finished a long day of sketching in the mountains of South China. In this quiet valley, the land where farmers work extends in line with the terrain, like pieces of geometric carpets, and the curling smoke brings a cheerful melody. I hope my painting can convey this heartfelt at-home warmth to the viewers.

Born in 1944 in Xiangxiang City, Hunan Province of China. Graduated from Hunan Normal University in 1967. Worked as a teacher and art editor. Traveled to France, Spain, Italy, Russia, and the United States for art researches. After years of studying and thinking, I fell in love with observing nature with an open mind, and reinterpreting its beauty through oil paintings. I gradually built up my own style in artistic practice: taking from objective images, but surpassing them, emphasizing the emotional expression composed of colors, lines and dots.
