run Painting

A recent Fine Art graduate from the North East of England. I see my work as an ongoing story in which I paint fleeting moments. I make art from an insurmountable need to express myself through the silence of images. In my work I aim to create a separate world in which boundaries are overcome whether they be emotional or physical. I am very prolific in my studio practice, creating many sketches to inform the decisions I make in the paintings. I draw together lots of different elements from found imagery, to create more depth in the work. I want the work to have the effect of drawing in the eye and the viewers' attention. The themes always stem from personal experience and I select techniques to best express the feelings and theatrics of the work. In my current work I am exploring the bridging of portraiture and landscape painting. Blending the people with geological figures in an almost surreal way to tell a story. I admire abstract expressionist painting and wish to convey a similarly overwhelming experience when people look at my paintings. I am drawn to illustrative work showing an event or a feeling. In my painting I use life experiences to inform the image and hope to create something that is meaningful to me but ambiguous enough to be of interest to others. In my work I am challenging my own practice, by letting the painting to evolve on its own and not worrying too much about the integrity of the content. As long as the overall effect I want is achieved at the end of the process.
