Our eye is sensitive to between 400 and 700 nm wavelengths and cannot detect lower wawelenghts. Since we perceive the smallest wavelength radiation we can see as purple, it is the beam that has a smaller wavelength than this. UV-A type ultraviolet light is very little visible light and its name Black Light.
