Irene, Berlin She was enigmatic yet vulnerable, her gaze lifted towards the heavens, through a single window in the roof of the attic, as if seeking solace or guidance. It was freezing that day, it was late November, we were wearing layers as it was around 2 degrees Celsius. For me, this portrait represents a moment in time when I was saying goodbye to the city of Berlin, where I had spent several years working and living amongst the hustle and bustle of the city and its many colourful and spirited people. Irene in this moment embodied my feelings of nostalgia, longing, and hope that I experienced during that transitional period. As I look back on this work, to this day, it is still one of my most special portraits. I am reminded of the deep connections we form with the places and people we encounter throughout our journey. It is a tribute to Irene, the city, the fleeting chapters of our lives, and the nostalgia of days gone by. The artwork comes to you in a tube as a Giclée pigment print on Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta 325gsm archival paper.
