Mysore India - 15 of 20 is from a Series of Photographs taken in India early in 2013. When she is traveling and away from her painting studio, Parr uses a camera as her way of ‘painting’ whilst on the move, Often mistaken as reproductions of her paintings, her photographs are Original Limited Edition pieces. Signed, numbered Limited Edition of 10 Digital Photograph printed on 310gsm Hahnemuhele German Etching paper using archival ink. Image size 79.1 x 52.7 cm Gina Parr photographs series of transient forms and marks on walls and surfaces, which form unique atmospheric worlds, each with their own pictorial resonance or echo. Many are redolent of things half remembered, some resemble fragments of old charts and maps, others feature overt elements of graphic representation. Her intent is to frame these forms and subsequently print them exactly as found: the shapes, colour, and textures, all discovered in the weathering, decay, water damage and patination of her chosen destination. Both her painting and photography uncover our complex potential connections and disconnections with form and landscape; the fine line between pure abstraction and figurative recognition. She has found a symbiosis between her photography and her painting, resulting in work that she hopes will provoke our capacity to imagine a space beyond our known territories.

Gina Parr is a is a bestselling painter and photographer who 'paints' with her camera when traveling. The Artist says, "Scape, memory and identity are ever present in my work. My childhood, spent diversely in wide-open spaces with my father fishing for mackerel and at home with my mother's hoarding and mental health issues, defined my relationship to the land and sea: both the spirit and memory of wide open space and the dark uncertainty of the deep. My work is an expression of the intermingling of joy and pain, love and loss: the human condition and tracks the line between abstraction and figuration. I seek to find an emotional balance within my work, which I hope will speak to the viewer’s inner self.” Originally receiving a First Class BA Honours Degree in Fine Art, she went on to Chelsea College of Art to study set design, leading to a 25 year career Production Designing many notable shows for BBC and ITV Television, returning to her full time Art practice in 2007. She has lectured at Chelsea College of Art and Nottingham University and has widely exhibited in galleries and art fairs in the UK and Europe. Parr has works in numerous Worldwide collections including; Keble College Oxford, President Boston's Children's Museum USA, Director Jestico + Whiles Architects, Goldman Sachs and Vedanta London, has completed commissions in UAE, Belgium, London, USA, and Glen Scotia Whisky for a special release in 2025. She was selected for the RA Summer Show 2024, the RWA Photography Open and the ING Discerning Eye 2023.
