ABOUT THE ARTWORK

We've done a lot of fine art pictures in showers and bath rooms. To shower is so meaningful. It's freedom, it's home, it's safe space... but also a place for being dominated, for dominating, for trust and secrets... so the story goes on: water is the life space of Rusalka, the fairy mermaid who is storytelled so often. And always it's her struggle between walking and loving on the one and swimming and being mysterious alone on the other hand. Play your own games in your own mind. You will find more here soon... You have to know: All open editions of my artworks are not signed or numbered. The images of my open editions could be created and sold also as limited editions or paintings in future.

Stephan Joachim works as a director, stage and costume designer for theatre. He started photographing when he was aged 6. While working at the theatres he started to photograph more and more productions of the opera and the ballet. Meanwhile he is officially regarded as a specialist of this genre. Since several years his work begun to become more artistic and he started this new era of style: His works now are influenced by nude fine art elements. And he developed his personal style using his photographs, putting them on materials like canvas or metal plates and combining them with paint, gold leaves, shellac and more. That is why many of the works are unique though they are photographs. His pure art photographs also are available as editions with different quantities. Meine Großeltern waren, Ärzte, Pfarrer, künstlerisch Begabte. Meine Vorfahren waren Handwerker, Bauern. Ich fotografiere seit meinem sechsten Lebensjahr. Unfassbar.
