ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A series exploring modern representations of the Buddhas. Styles vary across regions of the world and which of the enlightened are represented. Considering the Buddhavamsa (the Chronicle of Buddhas), the original Gautama Buddha (Siddhārtha Gautama) is well represented in modern times but we are also likely to be given representations of Sikhī Buddha, Budai (Pu-Tai), and Kassapa Buddha (Kāśyapa). Colourising and styling of these images is intended to reduce any sculptor's own colour interpretations to a more harmonised and equitable series. A limited edition artwork (#1 of 25) available for sale: 24"x24" high quality photo print, mounted on an aluminium dibond panel; a black polymer centre sandwiched between two aluminium sheets. An integrated float-effect hanging system is attached to the rear. A Certificate of Authenticity is supplied. Copyright: David Crosby - All licensing considered, contact dave@davecrosbyphotography.co.uk

David Crosby, born and raised in London, but later schooling and family life was away from the hustle and bustle after a relocation to Middle England. After years in a beautiful Georgian stone town with a vibrant community of artistic and creative people to inspire him, he now works listening to the cries of seagulls in a south western Devon seaside town, nature calling constantly. His botanical works are a juxtaposition of the fine arts and the detail afforded by macro photography. A complementary combination of aesthetics and the beauty of natural world geometry. The transition from technically perfect photography to the adoption of a fine art style came naturally from his long term appreciation of this finesse across all genres. When creating, he begins a piece with the final result in mind but is always open to new processes along the way. His expectation is that when people see his work they are able to feel the beauty in the subject that first captured him. Part of his joy in working on a new piece of art is the sense of contentment at being able to recreate visual experiences and the anticipation of future sharing. Whilst working within photography he is reminded that he is capturing a moment in time, be it staged or natural, a literal and graphical snapshot of history. More recently David has also been studying the works of the generative artists, those artists who sculpt computer art with algorithm manipulation. Their ability to map the numeric world to the artistic is inspiring him to create similar and Is looking forward to sharing those pieces.
