ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This chair piece was inspired by the printmaking that I was doing. I tore up an original etching to use for collage.Other tools of printmaking that I used are stencils, transfers, and stamps. It is truly a mixed media painting on paper. This piece is whimsical and would be very busy were it not for the neutral colors used. The black, white, grays, and beige give it a calming feel. It could go anywhere and chairs are something we all can relate to.

Symbols that represent common threads and relationships of life are prevalent in my paintings. Combining the ancient art of printmaking with contemporary techniques and materials and is how my work evolves. Spontaneity and a sense of adventure are with me when creating. Color and texture are always at the heart of my art and there are many layers buried beneath the surface of any painting."
