ABOUT THE ARTWORK
There is something peaceful about the structure sleeping on the beach contrasting with your mind as it takes you to echoes of screams in the high season. Taken in 2013 this picture was first executed in Richard's darkroom in April 2020. Colour is key in Richard's work and in the simplicity of this picture that really stands out. Photographing on the East Coast of America Richard drew parallels of familiarity to the East Coast of England. This artwork is a limited edition of 25, gloss photographic print, dry-mounted to aluminium, it is presented in a museum board white window mount and a choice of black or white box frame. It is signed and numbered on reverse and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Although I was brought up in East Anglia, I was heavily influenced by America, I visited American bases, I kept magazine cuttings and I followed drag racing. The speed, lifestyle and technicolour is reflected in my imagery. Colour is a major aspect to my work, it drives my equipment and material choices. I have made many bodies of work, while there are distinctions between them they are all linked somehow. I have exhibited widely, in the early part of my career following an exhibition at the Photographers Gallery in 1989, many of my exhibitions toured Museums and Galleries around England. From 2007 presentation of my work has mostly been at Art Fairs in the UK and worldwide where it has been brought by many international collectors. My piece 'Thrills' was part of the 2018 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
