Michael Tierney’s paintings are a reflection of the diverse and multi-layered aspects of contemporary culture that surround and sometimes overwhelm us. His imagery is inspired by everything from travel, nature, science, history, politics and religion to video games, pop culture and fashion. The artist’s work is included in numerous collections across the world. He has exhibited and sold both nationally and internationally and he has been featured in many newspapers and magazines. In 2016 his work was selected as Image of the Week in The Guardian newspaper where his work was published alongside other International artists including Antony Gormley, Wolfgang Tillmans, Michael Craig Martin, Rankin and Eva Rothschild as part of the Stronger In Europe poster campaign. His work has been published on both The Royal Academy’s website, and . The Wall Street Journal named him as “a rising star”. Michael lives and works in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex.
