ABOUT THE ARTWORK

( Contemporary society pressures us to interpret abstract into concrete, particular into general, unknown into theories, and authenticity into duplicity. Jeb Fikapec, Theories of Complacency 2011.) Jakub Kalousek work aims at the mutative nature of physical elements in today's increasingly fragmented and hierarchically ordered environment. Jakub Kalousek attempts to "counter -express" these tendencies by balancing between abstract and concrete. He does not want a viewer to perceive his works as one piece nor as a sum of little pieces. Creating images from seemingly fortuitous marks and images into narrative whole made by a viewer slakes our thirsts for novelty and propulses the cynical.Kalousek juxtaposes multitudinous degrees of details, from utterly abstract to saliently representational in order to create quasi meta-order of "timescapes"(©calouseque) as trying to achieve mental progression in recoiling between the abstract and concrete. and thrusting a viewer into motion between factual trust and imaginery disbelief. In this sense, Jakub Kalousek work can be considered hovering in internal and illusory timescapes of new age merger between physical and digital, stable and impermanent, fleeting, but reminiscent, like the thought of pleasure long gone. Fabienne Lamar, "Fusillade", June 2009
