The American Gingerbread Village is a wonderful site to see during the winter holidays. The tradition of making decorated gingerbread houses started in Germany in the early 1800s. According to certain researchers, the first gingerbread houses were the result of the well-known Grimm's fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel" in which the two children abandoned in the forest found an edible house made of bread with sugar decorations. These became popular during Christmas, a tradition that came to America with Pennsylvanian German immigrants. In San Francisco, the popular hotels display rival gingerbread houses during the Christmas season. Painting has a 1 inch black floater frame. The painting has a wire on the back ready for hanging. Includes a Certificate Of Authenticity with a hidden one of a kind watermark is included.

Julie Pace Hoff is the creator of the modern painting style "aesthetic folk art," a combination of academia intermingled with the root of traditions in communities and the American culture. The painting's aesthetic expresses the identity from the place, rather than that of the artist. Her aesthetic folk art paintings involves impasto applications of paint, with fine details to capture the culture and it's environment. Resume at www.juliepacehoff.com
