American diner Print - Limited Edition of 7

I love eating breakfast in American diners, especially older, retro-styled diners. I found this one in a small, remote town and just had to go in for a meal. Instead, I ended up spending most of my time photographing the diner and its contents. I put this photo of the jukebox player on a table with all the trappings of yesteryear. Out the window, an American flag was blowing gently in the breeze, and just out of town I later found a picturesque old barn with a weather-worn American flag tacked to its side. The two images just called out for me to put them together. I added some colored geometric shapes with colors taken from the scenes to help me tie the composition together. I call my technique “Image Architecture” where my approach to constructing the picture is to first break apart a scene into component parts, then use those parts as the building blocks for reconstructing a new scene with minimalist, geometric, and architectural overtones.
