Monica Figueredo is a multidisciplinary artist with a B.A in Fine Arts from OCAD University in Toronto, Canada. She has exhibited globally in a variety of media ranging from painting, sculpture, installation and documentary filmmaking. Her multi-ethnic upbringing and her practice as a journey woman, as the peripatetic who maps an alternate world by her journey through it, has exposed her to multitude of cultures, faiths and cosmological knowledge. All of which play a key intuitive role in her creative process through the language of abstraction. In this, geometric cosmology as it adheres to the view of a connected universe, or unified field is what informs her work. Shapes, colours, gradients show playful glimpses of the inner workings of nature and the intrinsic order of the universe connecting all forms of life. It is the seen and the unseen, the quantitive and the qualitative, the finite and the infinite, this is the interface in which the work exists, symbolizing the relationship between form, movement, space and time.
