Kofi Owusu is a contemporary artist from Ghana who creates vibrant textile fabrics artworks using discarded fabrics as his primary medium. He is drawn to these materials because, even when they are no longer wanted, they can still hold stories, memories, and possibilities waiting to be discovered.
Through layering different pieces of fabric, Kofi creates artworks rich in colour, texture, and movement. His work explores memory, transformation, sustainability, and the beauty of everyday life. He enjoys bringing different fabrics together, allowing their colours, patterns, and textures to guide the creative process and give each piece its own character.
For Kofi, art is a way of seeing value in things that others may overlook. By turning discarded fabrics into meaningful artworks, he hopes to encourage people to look at waste differently and recognise the beauty and possibilities that can be found in unexpected places.
In 2026, his artwork Eyes Towards Tomorrow and his text From Textile Waste to Art were licensed by Éditions Hatier in France for the educational publication Let’s Meet Up Anglais 1re, Édition 2026. This collaboration brought his work and ideas about transforming textile waste into art into an educational setting.
