About The Artwork

And Then the Storm was Over I love the clarity of a sun-brightened sky immediately after a storm. In just a moment, the storm can break apart, revealing clear blue, but leaving us with the memory of the power of the wind and the feel of the rain. My printing-collage process allows lots of tactile involvement with the subject matter. I print all the images and textures with acrylics as monotypes on rice paper. As I collage onto the watercolor paper, the rice paper actually bonds to the substrate. It is like watching something come alive. Machine stitching adds texture. In this work, it suggests to me the last bit of sun-soaked rainfall. Float mounted presentation in a birch shadow box, under acrylic, reveals the beautiful natural deckle edge of the watercolor paper. This work is a signed, one-of-a-kind original.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I investigate the natural world and the inner world through the creation of hand-printed, richly layered art quilts. In the process, I hand print images and patterns on rice paper and fabric. Because of the textural, tactile nature of my art quilts, I do not create reproductions of them. I have, however, frequently found myself intrigued with the patterns and colors of the fabric and paper I create purely as aesthetic elements. For this body of work, I have created original digital collages using detailed photographs of the paper and fabric I print. Collage artists are known for saving every little scrap for use in a new work! These digitally collaged works are one more way of preserving and using the work of my hands.
