This collage painting is composed on a wooden panel. This is created using discarded paint chip samples, dress pattern papers, washed coffee filters, old school graph papers, calendar pages, magazine cutouts, and repurposed tea bags. My work is inspired by circular organic shapes like mushroom caps, sea urchins, diatoms, amoebas, and jellyfish. References of nature and patterns emerge within my work. The sides of the panel is painted white; however, there are some papers overlapped and glued onto on the sides of the piece. Signed and dated on back of panel.

Ali Herrmann is a mixed media painter, colorist and science lover, whose work explores cellular structures as an origin into her abstract artworks. Creating what she terms ‘micro-biome landscapes,’ Herrmann uses SEM images and organic shapes as inspiration to explore concepts of blood, bacteria, fungi, and unicellular structures within her boldly colorful, abstract artworks. Exploring themes of repetition, rhythmic orders, geometric shapes, and chaos-order theory, Ali brings attention to nature's details that are often overlooked.
