ABOUT THE ARTWORK
New work! After completing 365 18 x 24 canvas sheets, it was exciting to start a new project. This piece is approximately 30 x 27, an unstretched panel that I am exhibiting clipped to wire suspension. (images will be made available after installation is complete.) The work is part of state of being series which is about energy, light, and connection to self and body. It is meditative and I use paint with a metallic shimmer to illuminate the piece.

I have been a working artist for over 20 years. After growing up outside of Chicago, I moved to New York, where I received my master's of art from the prestigious program through NYU and the International Center of Photography. When I returned to Chicago, I continued to work on my art, writing and curating all while raising 4 kids. My work focuses on the effects of genetics, the mother/daughter relationships, and the body. I explore themes of cancer as a metaphor in my own work as well as the biennial exhibit I curate, Voices & Visions, Standing on the Bridge Between Health and Disease. The mind, body and spirit connections and separations echo the theme in art that out of darkness comes light.
