Collage: Paper on Canvas.
I cut and rip papers and tissues instead of applying paint. Each piece of paper represents a dub of paint. This creates a mosaic of paper pieces of various sizes. Most of the papers come from repurposed high quality magazines. If I cannot find the right colour, I use Japanese papers and tissues and my own painted papers. Because of a variety of thickness, the texture is quite visible. I finish the collage with 2 coats of varnish that creates a hard surface and completely protects the paper from ultraviolet rays and other environmental conditions, like moisture, or hot/cold temperature.
I created this collage for the Art Monaco 2015 art fair in Monaco. It was one of the two paintings I took myself to the exhibition. The other one has been sold.
This collage - painting has a black, contemporary frame. It will be exhibited in Artist Project 2017 in Toronto, ON Canada Feb. 23-26.
