ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This iconic mixed media piece, features a Japanese Shogun or warlord. After a recent trip around Japan, I was inspired to paint a series of pieces in which I responded to different aspects of Japanese culture. This warrior is an ancient Japanese symbol and the mood in the piece is somber, muted. The palette of grey, black and red helped create that mood for the viewer. I also used some pieces of citrasolv photos in the work as well.

After retiring from a long, rewarding career as a high school teacher and administrator, Myra discovered the joys of painting, especially using water media.
