Domesticating Hoopoe Collage

Acrylic and painted paper collage elements on heavyweight Arches 300 lb watercolor paper. In this mixed media collage hybrid I explore the layering of human history and how it relates to nature. Scraps of salvaged, vintage papers and a retrospective of black and white images tell a story as they are layered and adhered onto paper. Hoopoe is the National Bird of Israel; wiring of the protagonist demonstrates the need to Domesticate Exotic species mirroring the wars of Israel through centuries. Themes touched on include conceptual play with DaDa references, alongside a serious message about mortality, the cycle of life, and the fragility of nature.
