This Paper Collage represents calmness and composure in a peaceful mediative stillness. It seeks to represent enlightenment and bring positive energy to you. The Paper Collage consists of uniquely made paper flowers from recycled fashion magazines. Each flower is handmade without using a template and is both unique and beautiful. Angelika then arranges the paper flowers on canvas to create a unique piece of art. By building up many layers of texture and colour, using brushes and palette knives, Angelika creates a rich surface and vibrant relationships between random shapes and deliberate markings in her work. She also makes beautiful paper flowers from fashion magazines which form a new dimension in her paintings. Charcoal and oil pastels also heighten the botanical impressions and create depth and movement. The drips in Angelika’s work illustrate the endless cycle of growth and decay in organic structures, which again is a reflection of life itself. The botanical forms on the canvas are inspired by flowers but in an abstract way in order to create a visual language that gives the viewer room for their own interpretations and dialogues. There is a constant awareness in her work to create translucency and light within the paintings and to show the ethereal beauty of nature.

I am a Norwegian artist, and the essence of my work is very much rooted in the colors and landscapes from Scandinavia and the traditional simple design of Nordic art. The difference between the cool, cold almost whitish blue winter landscape and the bright colors of summer is extremely inspiring to me, and many of my paintings are characterized by bold contracts between colors, textures, shapes and light. Although my paintings are never a direct translation of nature, it is possible to trace the pure white light of a winter day or the vibrancy of a flower in a variety of unexpected ways. My work is contemporary abstract art ranging from big motives and bold colors to subtle, white washed images of a snowy pale winter day. A pink sunset, a rectangular pattern of land seen from above, or a delicate flower are examples of images which are blended together to create an abstract form of beauty. Departing from a single vision from nature my paintings try to show her inner mechanisms and vitality not represented by appearance, but by the emotions these visions create in the viewer. Born in Bergen, Norway, Angelika Millmaker is a contemporary artist whose work is characterized by an abstract representation of organic forms. She uses a wide variety of mediums to create translucent and luminous effects in her paintings. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Management Sciences from The Victoria University of Manchester (U.M.I.S.T) she was accepted into Cass Business School, City University of London where she obtained a Master of Science in Shipping, Trade and Finance. Angelika worked in the oil & gas industry in Norway for many years before she relocated with her family to Houston, Texas. Having painted at various levels throughout her life Angelika now took up art full time in Houston and enrolled at The Glassell School of Art where she was a student for two years. Angelika has successfully participated in art markets, shows and group exhibitions while her main focus has been commission work for private clients. Her work is represented in private collections in Europe, Canada and the US. She has also hosted Summer Art Camps for children in Houston. Today Angelika and her family have moved back to Europe and she divides her time between London and Bergen.
