ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Using iconic Japanese images of geishas, and shoguns, along with oriental calligraphy, I created a mixed media collage piece inspired by a recent trip around Japan. I also experimented with using the famed Japanese Washi Papers to create textural elements in this collage. The impression I wished to create was one of simplicity in design and a peaceful mood by using a complimentary palette of yellow, green and red.

After retiring from a long, rewarding career as a high school teacher and administrator, Myra discovered the joys of painting, especially using water media. After 15 years of creating impressionistic water colour portraits, she is now experimenting with acrylics, pastels ,hand made paper, collage/texturizing techniques, inks and watercolours.
