My painting is about materiality and entering into a quiet and luminous space. Again I have used a torn section from my cadmium yellow paint tube. The dark green oil marks were created as a contrast between dark and light and "paint as metaphor". This process allows me to push boundaries in my que...

I grew up at the Krishnamurti Educational Centre, Brockwood Park which is based in the Heart of South Hampshire. . Brockwood Park a former stately home and arboretum remains an international co-educational boarding school. The Krishnamurti foundation was set up as a school in the early 1970's. Krishnamurti had close interaction with all the students. In our weekly meetings he would ask thought provoking philosophical questions that would require an insightful, open and enquiring mind. At a young age this had a profound effect on the way I grew up. At the end of my education in 1979 I travelled to India on an exchange with the two other Krishnamurti schools in India in Bangalore and Baranasi. I remained in India for one year teaching and travelling. I returned to India again in 1993 to paint and draw for three months in an Indian Artist's village outside Calcutta. You can see my Indian charcoal drawings on my website: While working intensely alongside twelve other Indian artists I held an exhibiition in Calcutta with the British High Commission who sponsored my show. From a young age I have always painted and drawn.
