About The Artwork

"Liz Taylor" is part of the "Recycled Celebrity" series of portraits made from recycled paper. It was a way to turn people's throwaways into unique, valuable objects. It is a very constrictive environment to create, as you cannot choose the materials you work with, you have to adapt to what the papers give you, but it's also a great opportunity to explore your creativity in a closed situation. Very time-consuming, but the results are very special, extremely singular. Sure, some of them might look bizarre at first, I've been told this a few times, but once you spend a bit of time with one and you start noticing the hidden images and messages and story lines it just becomes so much more. There is a lot of inner beauty in this series. *the original does not have the white background and it is mounted in a transparent perspex frame, created and manufactured by the artist. The colour of the wall becomes the background of the artwork, giving the owner the liberty to actively contribute to the creation process.

Complex portrait reconstructions with both paper and digital tools. Started making collages in 2009, mostly abstract work, then tried some conceptual collage, then in 2014 I tried the portraits and really loved doing them, I developed my own style and work process and it's been growing since then. Gallery exhibitions (group) in New York (2018), London (2017, 2019), Lisbon (2018), Bucharest (2014), Moscow (2016-2017) Group NFT exhibition in Rome (2023) Work selected for NFT NYC24 Part of Museum of Crypto Art (MoCA) permanent collection I also make large posters of my work and stick them on random walls outside, I use sprays and markers as well, been a street artist since 2006.
