The artwork is an abstract representation of the marine environment typical of the Mediterranean coast, rendered by means of an evident juxtaposition between the blue of the sea and earth's ochre. A barrier, or obstruction, in the shape of a wall, introduces a set of architectural elements with the intention of leading the viewer to imagine the Mediterranean world in all its aspects, including the remnants of ancient - as well as more modern - civilizations that inhabited its coastline.

Salvatore Grande, architect, illustrator, painter, was born in Taranto (Apulien, Italy) in 1947. He spends his youth in Argentina and completes his studies in Còrdoba. In 1976 he moves to Milan and works as an architect both in Italy and in the Middle East. At the beginning of the eighties he starts painting. Architecture and painting meet in the complementarity between views and visions, between the severity of perspective and the quickness of the painting gesture of the brush-stroke. Salvatore Grande has exhibited his work in Italy, Switzerland and Argentina. He lives and works in Lugano
