ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Mirror series This is a mirror. What you see and feel depends on the situation. Believe in your senses. About the Mirror series. it's not about expressing something in collage, but about collaging pieces of paper cut in almost the same shape, one by one, based on the feelings at that moment. It's a geometric arrangement, but the perceived shapes change at a glance. In childhood, looking at wood grain or cloud shapes, playing conversations like, "It looks like a fish! It looks like a bird! It has a face and it's scary!" I believe many people engaged in such playful conversations naturally. That playfulness is pure creativity. At that moment, a person's emotions, physical condition, time of day, and events of the day alter what you see, what disappears, and what you feel. It's the "mirror" of that person at that moment. This perspective is the basis of my other works, but expressed in collage, it becomes the "Mirror Series." I would be delighted if you could feel the sense of "play" in this artwork. Painted with acrylic gouache on Japanese traditional paper. And collage on canvas. You can hang it.

Statement When I "express" something, I free myself and to be free in what I express and how I express it. I quiet my thoughts and return to "nothingness". I focus on the senses and the unconscious. I feel "shape, color, and movement" based on the sensations and emotions that emerge at that moment, and I do not fix a finished image at first. I create in the way I want to how to express and be at that time. Some of them are "stimuli and information" that I have accumulated through my life. They are drawn from listening to sounds, smelling trees and people, animals, inorganic objects and everything else. The "thing" that I created is a mirror and record of "me" at that moment, I also believe that the feelings and discoveries of the "viewer" are a mirror of that person at that moment. The colors and shapes that interest us change depending on the combination of "emotion, situation, time," etc. This kind of freedom is similar to the feeling I had as a child when I was playing with the shapes of clouds, I think it is something very important, like pure "creativity" that everyone has. In order to express it, I still feel it is important to be free, pure, and honest with myself about what comes up in the moment.
