b. 1990, Los Angeles, CA Painter Melanie Zarrow has been exploring the use of action and space in a variety of mediums. She graduated from Pitzer College in 2014 with a degree in Art History focusing on post-genocidal art and memorials. After school, Melanie dived into the world of abstract expressionism. Her dynamic work in acrylic, oil, and watercolor plays with high energy and explosive moments. Through layers of color, texture, and movement, she strives to find the perfect balance between tension and harmony. She has worked for many years in the international art scene representing USC’s Initiative for Israeli Arts and Humanities as well as the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Her focus was on establishing connections between the art world of the Middle East and America. Her painting is influenced by Jackson Pollock, Sam Francis, Mark Rothko, Robert Motherwell, and Jasper Johns. She is currently working out of Los Angeles, CA. The soulful sounds of D’Angelo, Chance The Rapper, and Frank Ocean’s music is often heard from her studio space.
