Analogue cut and paste textile collage on wooden box. I emphasize “analogue” to reinforce that this is a hand made assemblage of bits and scraps and material fetished and fussed over with sticky fingers and trays of goop and a fabulous scrapheap of remnants littering the studio tables and floor. Its physical work. Its millinery; the fabric and scissor cuts have a voice; a deciding formal vote. Vertical format. Pin and orange drips of oil paint float among white, green and black stripes. Circles appear in several forms such as a clock, architectural relief and graphic polka dots, Other features include black and white photos of children obscured by veils and blurred motion,, a peach, stacked pots and samovars, a postal stamp and an illustration of shrub strewn hillock. The physical remains of this former “Readymade” carry case become sculptural components including Bakelite handle and metal clasps and hinges. Ready to hang.
