Getting into a good feeling place as I begin a new piece of art has great consequences upon how it turns out. Looking at nature, going for a hike or looking out the window at the garden and trees is a great way to prepare to create. I call this "Getting into the Receptive Mode".

All works from the SPLINTERED WISDOM series are created on paper mounted wood panels artfully painted & splashed with pure watercolors. The rich texture of the trees are created with collaged bits of images of bark & litter I clean up off scenic highways, as a gentle reminder that if we do not stop trashing the planet, trees will not grow from our garbage in the future. Details and shadows are added near the end with graphite pencils.
The overall result is an aesthetically alluring composition with a hidden message about protecting our forests.

This piece was created on a handcrafted panel by my husband and Woodworker, David Anderson. It is finished with two coats of archival satin varnish, creating a contemporary but natural look. The edges are finished with varnish as well, but left natural and often display drips of paint from the process. No framing required.

Linda Klein, a nature-loving artist hailing from the Bay Area, California, embarks on a soulful journey that harmonizes realism and abstract expression. Unveiling her artistic flair in preschool, Linda's earliest creative adventures prompted her parents to enroll her in local art classes—a bid to save their home from toddler graffiti and nurture her burgeoning talent. Nestled in the wild beauty of West Marin since 2019, Linda draws inspiration from her surroundings. Her artistic evolution mirrors the diverse landscapes she calls home—ranging from detailed graphite drawings to vibrant, ecologically themed pieces infused with recycled collage elements. Linda's unique process involves mounting watercolor paper onto handcrafted wood panels which are often created by her equally talented woodworking husband. This technique imposes a modern eco-conscious approach that bypasses traditional framing. Linda's art is a personal reflection, resonating with the rhythms of nature. With an unwavering commitment to continuing her creative education and a dance between documentation and new realities, Linda Klein's journey is a deeply personal ode to the beauty of our planet. Art Studio tours are offered daily in the artist's San Anselmo, California home.
