Thought So… [Schizophrenagenisus] Collage/Assemblage, 2014 Schizophrenagenic theory was a relatively short-lived supposition into the causation of homosexuality; during a time when schizophrenia and homosexuality were little understood, schizophrenia was seen as a symptom of extremely repressed homosexuality. The idea that schizophrenia was passed from mother to child, led some to believe thought-patterns from mother to child were transferred in utero. The theory posited that if a mother desired a particular gender for the child strongly enough, yet the child was born the binary opposite gender, that child would be homosexual.
