This is a continuation of a theme I used when I first made my mixed-media collage, "The Scream of the Butterfly". I created that artwork in an attempt to show the horror of global warming, using Jim Morrison's and The Doors lyrics from "When The Music's Over" as a guide. I've attempted to convey several things using several different symbols to show how genocide and global warming continues, personal issues and the deaths of too many superb musicians. How music has been degenerated into synthesised crap so that it no longer seems to matter if all the current artists sound the same and talent doesn't seem to count for too much anymore. How there is an imminent extinction of Monarch Butterflies because of pesticides used on milkweed plants which is their prime source of nectar. Who cares? The mixed media used is acrylic and enamel paint, a heavily collaged poppy using one of my originals, and I once again I have cut up pictures of butterflies from my own paintings. "Found" items are a hacksaw blade, circular blades and discarded rocks found from fossil beds. I also desecrated sheet music from Albinoni's "Adagio" which I thought fitting for this artwork. The pain cuts too deep and the Music is over.

I was born in South Africa and then studied for at Rhodes University under professor Brian Bradshaw. I lived in Northwestern British Columbia, Canada for 9 years. and during that time opened an art gallery (with gift shop), and a working studio where I painted and taught people to do the same. Although being a landscape painter using pastel has been a lifelong love, I now explore other media in an effort to express my strong thoughts and emotions\ . This has been a voyage of discovery where I have found new dimensions I was only able to dream of in the past. Please note that ALL of my images (C.N.
