Words and images from everyday life are the backdrop for Volker Veit's body of work. He draws on a variety of sources, which at the same time reflect his interest in literature, contemporary dance and music. Every lived and experienced moment can thus have an influence on the current work. Oriented towards people with their light and shadow sides, his works arise from a basic idea and then complete themselves layer by layer on the image carrier. The groups of works, which are often arranged in series, are oriented towards the thematic complex and the associated differences between individuality and community. Words, lines and quotations mingle with the reduced, abstract compositions. They expand the pictorial message to include further levels of interpretation and deprive the works of their unambiguous attribution and legibility. In his work, he feels that he belongs to the analogue, with the corresponding traces of work, the smells and the haptics, with the opportunity to bump his head once in a while. The excursions into the digital world are a means to an end, in the creation of the compositions as well as in making everyday studio life visible on social media. For him, every work carries within him the person who has designed it and who is rooted in his time. Volker Veit (*1962) works as a independent visual artist in his studios at Burg Neuhaus/ Wolfsburg and at his place of residence near Wolfsburg. His work encompasses various artistic techniques and forms of representation such as painting, collage, photography as well as site- and situation-specific installations, some of which are performatively developed. Since 1998, his work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. They enrich numerous private collections. He is member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists in Germany as well as the Kunstverein Wolfsburg and the Museum für Photographie Braunschweig.
