This vibrant 40x40cm acrylic painting on panel captures the essence of daily life in Africa. Jan Keteleer masterfully depicts local women sailing in a canoe down a glistening river, bathed in the warmth of the afternoon sun. Their brightly colored clothes and headwraps pop against the subdued tones of the landscape. You can almost feel the gentle rocking of the canoe as they glide across the water’s surface. The women chat lightly as they lower their nets, hoping to catch fish for that evening’s meal. It’s a timeless scene that could be happening today or hundreds of years ago. Keteleer’s broad, expressive brushstrokes fill the composition with energy and atmosphere. Thick impasto textures capture dappled sunlight dancing across the water. Flowing colorful marks suggest the women’s clothing fluttering in the breeze. The overall effect is at once earthy and ethereal. This textured original artwork lets you immerse yourself in the essence of Africa. Feel the heartbeat of humanity as local fishermen and women sustain themselves from the land and waters around them. Lose yourself in the sweeping colors and textures. With an inner depth and emotional authenticity, this piece will breathe new life into any room. The painting comes framed in simple black wood, allowing the artistry within to shine. Signed on both the back of the panel and the frame by Keteleer himself, this vibrant piece will be appreciated for generations to come. Bring a piece of Africa home today.

Belgium
From his interests in both classical art and modern / contemporary art, Belgian artist Jan Keteleer (JanKé) works with different styles. Ancient art is one of his interests, but you can also find examples of his work in pop art and impressionism. If you browse through Jan Keteleer's portfolio, you will find beautiful nature scenes, pictures of animals or pop art-based nudes. After years working in commercial photography, he turned his interest to artistic black and white photography. Projects such as Speecless, Silent Dialogues and Roots with Taboo brought him fame. He was inspired by the problems of the multicultural society in Belgium, the coexistence of different national and ethnic groups, the issue of the language barrier and the lack of dialogue between the "old" (the native population) and the "new" Belgians (the immigrants). JanKé attaches great importance to the social significance of his works and integrates them into the context of public space (stations, airports and public transport), prompting the viewer to react and reflect. His projects have received the support of the organization Sprakeloos, which aims to use art to provoke discussion on social issues. He had numerous exhibitions in Belgium (in Antwerp, Bruges, Lier, Leuven and Ghent), in the U.S. (in Dallas and San Francisco) and in Poland (in Krakow).
