What happens if you break an antique Portuguese tile with a hammer? The tile's many tiny colourful parts spread nicely along parallel curves. Or not. So, maybe, don't try this at home. (You might need to step back or squint your eyes to see the curves, but they're there.) Inspired by a visit to the Museu Nacional do Azulejo (National Tile Museum) in Lisbon early this year. Made with code (Javascript / SVG).

United Kingdom
João Pescada (b.1983) is a Portuguese visual artist in London, UK. His work explores the fusion of the warm touch of human craftsmanship and the cold digital precision of computers. Using code algorithms, he develops generative artworks with an organic feel that are transported to the physical world using graphite, colour pencils or pigment ink on paper. Sometimes hand-drawn, sometimes printed, and sometimes plotted with the helping hand of a robot.
