Irmak Erol is a Turkish artist, aged 29, who lives in Croatia, parallelly occupied with design, marketing and product development. She explores various mediums and techniques. Her portfolio consists of abstract photography, conceptual illustrations and photorealistic oil paintings. "Having reached serenity throughout prickly nature of a transition period when a creative urge I’ve come to realize has been groomed unapologetically, I found myself attempting to satisfy this urge and give it justice by exploring means of expression that I would previously consider an alienated notion. Throughout this transition period, I experienced an uncanny ability to get out of my own flesh and notice things in my surrounding, remarkably for the first time. I felt meditated. Art is merely a visual reflection of a literary diary, a mood board where one can distort and reconstruct material world through emergence of inner light. I do not wish to limit myself as I believe diversity and fluctuation are only natural. I choose to obey the time, the place, the occasion and manifest appropriately. In my portfolio, you will see a delicate cross breed between abstract photography that resembles reality through rigid analogies, photorealistic oil paintings that promote understanding of one’s individual yet collective sense of alienation through abstract ideas, and occasionally conceptual illustrations. The self-contradictory content of my work resembling a back-to-back loophole is designed deliberately to pay homage to the concept of inevitability, while accentuating an element of looseness through episodic doodles."
