About The Artwork

Demoiselles This image of women in debutante gowns painted in the abstract style of Picasso's "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" as a brilliant commentary on the tension between traditional femininity and modernity in art. At first glance, the image may seem to be a straightforward homage to Picasso's groundbreaking work, which famously depicted five nude prostitutes in a fragmented and abstract style that challenged the conventions of Western art. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that the women in the AI-generated image are not prostitutes, but rather debutantes - young women from wealthy families who are being presented to society for the first time. This juxtaposition of traditional femininity with avant-garde abstraction creates a powerful sense of irony and subversion, as the debutantes are transformed from symbols of wealth and status into avant-garde muses who challenge the viewer's expectations and assumptions. The use of the abstract style of "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" also adds another layer of meaning to the image. By depicting the women in a fragmented and abstract way, the artist emphasises their individuality and complexity, challenging the viewer to see beyond their surface appearances and into their inner lives. This image is a powerful and thought-provoking commentary on the intersection of tradition and modernity in art. By subverting our expectations and challenging our assumptions, the artist invites us to think more deeply about the role of women in art and society, and to consider the ways in which art can be used to challenge and transform cultural norms. Anton Blanc, Curator This is one of a series of 3 images that can be bought individually or as a set. Printed on 315 gsm textured paper ideal for prints of drawings and paintings. No white borders. You will receive the print rolled in a cardboard tube. Please not the actual size in 80cm x 80cm (1cm smaller than 32" x 32") This is because this printer works in metric.

I am an artist who likes to explore different materials. I have created works using lacquer on canvas, acrylic on canvas, laser cut plexiglass and engraved gesso board. At the moment I am fascinated by the possibilities of ai generated art and am creating prints with the images I produce. I was a full-time artist from 2001 to 2008 and had exhibitions in London, Paris and Berlin. After that I went into tech and started 3 startups. Now I am combining the artistic side and the tech side by creating ai generated artworks. I create the art works with generative ai and then they are printed on high quality art paper either gloss or matt and Saatchi Art ships them to you. My works are available individually or as a set of three. I like the idea of a set of three as you can tell a story with three pieces. When I first started exploring ai image creation it was like climbing down a ladder into my subconscious as literally anything was possible. Artists using materials tend to stick to what they have always done and don't change very much, with a few legendary exceptions like Picasso. The algorithm has quirkiness built in which can be an advantage or disadvantage as you often don't get what you want but may get something spectacular instead. I found, after choosing a selection from hundreds of images that I created, that the common thread was the 'WOW' factor. My desire is to create images that you are drawn to look at again and again; that literally wow you. That could be because they have a haunting beauty, are satirical, humorous, intriguing, thought-provoking or dark. I hope you like them too. Julia Macmillan @insaineart
