The inspiration behind this painting came from the admiration for old master's art in combination with the modern and current fantasy art and illustration. It also drifts from the passion for realism with a twist of a personal feeling and a surreal touch. In this portrayal it's intended to create a feeling of beautiful calm harmony, being the main characters a group of fennec foxes sleeping in a big tree during a sunny afternoon. The mediums used for this artwork were watercolor in combination with colored pastel pencils. The watercolor gives the background tones and first texture to the painting, while the pastel pencils give the feel of control over the development of the artwork, since it's a slow process of building up thin and very translucent layers of colors on top of each other, giving a final look of a smooth surface with high potential for details.
