Archangel Drawing

This work is from a series completed at the end of 2016. It has been exhibited in Los Angeles, New York and Sydney. The work is beautifully floated in a white box frame to highlight the edges of the watercolour paper and create the look of hovering under the glass. I often add wings and halos to my work to emphasise the fact I am not representing the physical attributes of a subject. My focus is on the emotional state of my subjects. Often I make the gender ambiguous for the same reason. Removing or obscuring features allows the viewer to bring their own emotion state to the interpretation of the artwork. I merely make suggestions and my audience fills in the blanks. This keeps the work evolving over time and makes it personal.
