About The Artwork

Boulevard de la Belle Croix, is part of a series of works by Zero Baby, where the central image is a personality associated with Depression Era crime. The works are not portraits of the individuals and neither do they glorify them. As seen here Bugsy Siegel is set in an unreal but based on real artefacts situation, where each aspect is subject to the others, in a style on the frontier where primitive meets surreal and super-real. Siegel stands in an abandoned chateau set on the ramparts of the city of Orleans, in France, during the 100 years war between France and England. Empty picture frames hang on the walls. A women runs along a corridor towards a door where a tiger waits. An oversized humming bird hovers nearby and two young girls stand in the background staring. Graphite on 130 gsm cartridge
