Breathing Space Drawing

I am currently in my final year at Lancaster University. My work focusses on themes surrounding change, loss and memory. Through drawing and painting, the series are visually elusive with forms that constantly change, focus and dissolve remaining symbolic without any direct representation. Through the darkness always emerges a fold of light offering affirmations of beauty and hope. Such overtones allow for suggestions of nostalgia and fragility. The focus can be thought of as a glimpse of a moment suspended in time. I apply thin layers of glazes or wax over the drawings and paintings to act as a barrier or veil of self protection evoking a speechlessness and loss of communication. They aim to hide more than they reveal.
