Calamity Jane (1852 - 1903) A colorful character of the American Old West, Calamity Jane was a frontier scout, friend of Wild Bill Hickok, an uncouth, illiterate alcoholic, occasional prostitute and highly regarded for her generosity and kindness. Her wildly exaggerated frontier exploits were recorded in, "The Life and Adventures of Calamity Jane by Herself" among other works of Western fiction of the time. Said one contemporary, "Her vices were the wide-open sins of a wide-open country – the sort that never carried a hurt." This is a pencil drawn illustration that I created for a group show entitled "Mujeres X Mujeres" here in Buenos Aires with two of my illustrator friends Andrea Toledo and Jésica Cichero. Measures 10 cm x 12 cm, drawn with Faber-Castell pencils on acid free paper. Exhibition photos - .html .html
